Abstract: The Supervisory Board of the KFA Jülich decided on June 26, 1985 to terminate the SNQ project by December 31, 1985 in accordance with Art. 7, para. 2a of the partnership agreement. Work still under way was therefore orderly completed by the end of 1985, and the results were documented. The "final documentation" for the engineering work, which describes the status reached by mid-1985 in the technical design of the facility, has already been prepared. Such a "final documentation" is not yet possible in many cases for the research and development work. In this field, a series of individual studies will have to be continued beyond 1985 so that it will not be possible before late 1986/early 1987 to document the results. This applies to almost all spheres of activity relating to the investigations of materials for the neutron target station. In this field, studies are still being conducted, many of them in cooperation with third parties and under contractual arrangements, and an appropriate completion with a view to essential design data of the plant will not be possible until 1986. These include primarily the test irradiations of different target and structure materials at the Los Alamos accelerato . The postirradiation examinations of the specimens the results of which being essential for the final design recommendations will be completed in 1986. [...]
